Tyla, who rose to international fame following the release of her hit single 'Water' in July 2023, took home trophies for Best New Artist and Viewer's Choice Best International Act at the annual awards show.

AceShowbiz - Sexyy Red was seemingly enjoying her time at the 2024 BET Awards, but her fans were pretty disappointed that she didn't win the Best New Artist award. The "Pound Town" raptress' online devotees suggested that she should've won the title instead of Tyla.

On Monday, July 1, the 26-year-old shared on Instagram a picture and a video of herself at the awards show. The comment section has since been flooded with comments from dissatisfied fans, with one writing, "Sexyy should've won best new artist over Tyla tbf."

Another penned, "you were robbed but it's okay!! Can't wait too see what next for you." A third stated, "It's ok sis, your efforts don't go unnoticed. You won in my book." Someone else chimed in, "EVERY SEXY REDD SONG GON TURN THE PARTY UP , tyla s**t aint nuffin."

Tyla, who rose to international fame following the release of her hit single "Water" in July 2023, already won the Best International Act award. At the event, she took home trophies for Best New Artist and Viewer's Choice Best International Act. Her performance of "Jump" with Skillibeng and Gunna also ignited the stage.

Following the release of her self-titled album in March, Tyla turned heads at the Met Gala in May with a stunning Balmain gown made of sand. When Balmain creative director Olivier Rousteing trimmed down the unwieldy floor-length dress to just above the singer's knees, the moment instantly went viral. At the Grammys in February, where she went on to win Best African Musical Performance, Tyla missed walking the carpet but wowed in an asymmetrical pistachio-green gown adorned with netted crystals, custom-made by Versace.

In early March, the 22-year-old artist shared a post on Instagram announcing that she was canceling the North American portion of her tour entirely and postponing her shows in Europe indefinitely due to a medical condition. "Words cannot describe my frustration at this pivotal point in my career. So please know that my team and I are working diligently on a spectacular show for you as soon as I am recovered and ready to return safely onstage this summer," she wrote in the caption. The 2024 BET Awards airs on June 30 at 8 P.M. ET/ PT live from the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles.
