The 85-year-old praised his daughter and granddaughter Vivienne Jolie-Pitt after they took home gold at the 2024 Tony Awards with the musical they co-produced, 'The Outsiders'.

AceShowbiz - Jon Voight is a father after all. Angelina Jolie's dad said he's "very proud" of the actress despite previously slamming the "Eternals" star over her support for Palestine.

The 85-year-old praised his daughter and granddaughter Vivienne Jolie-Pitt after they took home gold at the 2024 Tony Awards with the musical they co-produced, "The Outsiders". He told TMZ, "[I'm] very proud of Vivienne and very proud of Angie because she really tries to encourage each of the kids to be what they want to be.

Jon recalled how Angela called him to reveal that she was producing the Broadway version of the musical. "It's amazing. It's interesting because I just worked with Francis [Ford] Coppola on Megalopolis. During the filming of Megalopolis, I got a call from Angie and she said, 'I'm doing Outsiders,' " he recounted.

"Vivienne read the book and then went down to see this pre-Broadway version close to San Diego," he further explained. "She went down four times and said, 'Mom, you've got to see this.' Angie was very interested. It showed something of Vivienne she'd never seen before.

Jon's praise for Angelina came after he said he was "disappointed" in his daughter's comments on Israeli attacks in Gaza. In a video shared in November 2023, the "Anaconda" star dubbed his daughter's statements "lies."

Sitting in front of an American flag, the Oscar-winning actor said, "I am very disappointed that my daughter, like so many, has no understanding of God's honor, God's truths." He added, "This is about destroying the history of God's land, the Holy Land, the land of the Jews, This is justice for God's children of the holy land."

In her own post, Angela declared, "What happened in Israel is an act of terror." She then noted, "But that cannot justify the innocent lives lost in bombing a civilian population in Gaza that has nowhere to go, no access to food or water, no possibility of evacuation, and not even the basic human right to cross a border or seek refuge. Because of my work with refugees for 20 years, my focus is on the people displaced by violence in any context."

"The denial of aid, fuel and water is collectively punishing a people. Humanity demands an immediate ceasefire. Palestinian and Israeli lives - and the lives of all people globally - matter equally," she additionally pointed out. She concluded, "Anything that can prevent civilian casualties and save lives must be done. Like many others I have donated to medical relief efforts," which is "Doctors Without Borders."
