After a near-fatal snowplow accident, the Hawkeye depicter in MCU is putting his recovery first, limiting himself to roles he can handle while he focuses on healing.

AceShowbiz - Jeremy Renner is currently starring in season 3 of "Mayor of Kingstown", but admits that he's drawn to the comfort of the role because he's still recovering from the life-threatening accident he experienced on New Year's Day 2023.

"I just don't have the energy for it," Renner explained on the "Smartless" podcast. "I don't have the fuel."

The experience has led Renner to value the present moment and realize the importance of "divine intervention." However, he admits that returning to work was challenging as it required him to separate from the reality of his recovery.

"It was a hard line for me to cross," Renner said. "Because I'm to do, like, f**king fiction? I'm still trying to live in reality, I'm trying to live."

Renner's recovery has impacted his ability to take on demanding roles. In May, he revealed that he was learning to walk again while filming the latest season of "Mayor of Kingstown".

Due to his physical limitations, Renner has been handled "like a 14-year-old" on set. "They have to treat me like I'm a child actor," he explained.

Despite the challenges, Renner is grateful for the opportunity to continue acting. "I can't just go play make-believe right now," he said. "Because that takes a lot of time to get right here every day just so I can have a positive thought, so I can progress, so I can always keep growing."
