The Dallas Cowboys legend unveils that his wife has been living with early onset Alzheimer's for years, highlighting the challenges and resilience of their family.

AceShowbiz - Former Dallas Cowboys star Michael Irvin, 58, has revealed that his wife Sandy, also 58, has been battling early-onset Alzheimer's for the past 5-6 years. Irvin disclosed this personal information at his Playmakers88 sports bar in The Colony, Texas, during the halftime of Game 5 of the NBA Finals.

According to Irvin, Sandy's condition has progressed to a point where she has difficulty walking and speaking, requiring around-the-clock care at home. Despite the challenges, Irvin is determined to keep Sandy in their home, stating, "If anyone has earned the right to stay in her house, MY WIFE HAS!!! That I shall honor. No matter what it takes."

Early-onset Alzheimer's is a less common form of the disease, typically affecting individuals under the age of 65. It is a progressive neurological disorder that affects memory, thinking, and behavior. According to the Alzheimer's Association, approximately 7 million Americans have Alzheimer's, with 6.9 million being 65 or older.

Irvin and Sandy have been married for 34 years and have four children. They regularly share family photos and celebrate special occasions on social media.

Despite the challenges Sandy faces, Irvin remains hopeful and has requested prayers for his family. He has also expressed his gratitude for having the financial resources to provide the best possible care for his wife.

Irvin played his entire NFL career with the Dallas Cowboys from 1988 to 1999, becoming one of the league's most dominant wide receivers. He helped the Cowboys win three Super Bowl titles (XXVII, XXVIII, and XXX).

Irvin's openness about his wife's condition sheds light on the challenges faced by families coping with Alzheimer's and emphasizes the importance of love, support, and unwavering dedication.
