The British TV doctor is reportedly seen speaking to another person in Pedi after returning from a hike, although he failed to return to his accommodation with his wife.

AceShowbiz - Some witnesses have spoken up amid a major search for Michael Mosley, adding further mystery to the disappearance of the celebrated TV doctor. According to Greek mayor Lefteris Papakalodoukas, witnesses saw the BBC presenter alive in the island after returning from a hike.

One woman has told TV outlets that she saw Dr. Mosley speaking to an elderly man near some bins after reports of him missing emerged. A third person was also said to have been with them at around 2:20 P.M. "wearing a very thin plaid shirt."

Officers have been searching CCTV footage for any sign of the missing man. The island's mayor claimed that there was "very little crime on the island" causing even more concern for officials. "It is not easy for a person to go missing in Symi," he said.

Noting that Pedi is a small town, Papakalodoukas said firefighters carrying out the search told him they believed it was "impossible" Mosley would still be in the Pedi area. "It is a very small, controlled area, full of people. So if something happened to him there, we would have found him by now," the mayor said. He believes it was likely Mosley either "followed another path" or had fallen into the sea.

Mosley was reported missing by his wife on Wednesday, June 5 after he failed to return to their accommodation in Pedi by 7:30 P.M. The pair had earlier taken a boat trip up the coast and stopped at St. Nicholas Beach with another couple.

After enjoying a swim, Dr. Mosley decided to walk back to a holiday home in Pedi around 1:30 P.M. without his phone, which he forgot at the beach, according to Greek police. The hike should have taken 20 minutes, but he never returned, according to his wife.

Local authorities began retracing his route to locate him but to no avail. A search and rescue team was sent from Athens with drones and other equipment to join the search.

Senior Police Spokesman Constantina Dimoglidou told Daily Mail, "There is just no trace of him. None whatsoever and that means that for us at least, every potential scenario is open and being investigated." The spokesperson added, "We have now asked the fire brigade to assist in the operation in the case that he may have slipped, tripped, fallen, even bitten by a snake, remaining injured somewhere."
