The fashion designer and matriarch of the Knowles family shares the origins of her daughters' names, Beyonce and Solange, as well as where she conceived her younger child.

AceShowbiz - Tina Knowles recently revealed intimate family stories on the podcast "The Run-Through With Vogue". The matriarch discussed the inspiration behind the names of her daughters, Beyonce Knowles and Solange Knowles.

Beyonce's name, she explained, stemmed from "Boyonce" and "Beyince", names from her maternal line. However, the original name for her youngest daughter, Solange, was not planned.

Tina shared that she had purchased a French baby name book in Paris during a trip when she was pregnant with Beyonce. When she became pregnant with her second child, she turned to the same book, which was in French.

"I was flipping through the pages, and I saw the name Solange," Tina said. "But actually, Solange was conceived on the Nile in Egypt, and I thought I was having a boy."

Tina initially intended to name her son Niles, but when she discovered she was having a girl, she used the name Solange.

Solange has often spoken about her connection to Egypt and the Orion constellation, even tattooing the constellation on her arm. Her 2017 tour was titled "Orion's Rise".

Beyonce has also acknowledged the significance of Egypt in her music. On her "The Lion King: The Gift" soundtrack album, she collaborated with Kendrick Lamar on a track titled "Nile."

Tina emphasized the importance of names, saying, "Names are important. They're a part of who we are."
