AceShowbiz - Richard Simmons has gotten himself in the drama involving Melissa McCarthy and Barbra Streisand. The professional fitness coach made use of his social media account to defend the "Spy" actress while slamming the singing icon in the process.

"I love Melissa McCarthy," Richard wrote in a Facebook post shared on Tuesday, April 30. "I have seen every one of her movies. A famous legendary singer, B.S., made a remark about her weight loss-and was asking if she had used a popular weight loss shot. What a question."

The 75-year-old went on gushing over "The Heat" star. "I apologize to Melissa for these remarks. And by the way, Melissa, you look fabulous!" he added.

The drama between Melissa and Barbra started after the latter left an Instagram comment on Melissa's post in which she accused the actress of taking Ozempic to lose some weight. "Give him my regards did you take Ozempic?" the "Evergreen" singer said underneath a post featuring Melissa with director Adam Shankman.

Melissa seemingly took the high road when asked about the controversial comment, which has since been deleted by Barbra. "I think Barbra is a treasure and I love her," the "Bridesmaids" star told paparazzi during an outing in Los Angeles.

As for Barbra, the "Funny Girl" actress issued a public apology for her remarks. "I went on Instagram to see the photos we'd posted of the beautiful flowers I'd received for my birthday!" the 82-year-old explained on Tuesday. "Below them was a photo of my friend Melissa McCarthy who I sang with on my Encore album. She looked fantastic! I just wanted to pay her a compliment. I forgot the world is reading!"

Melissa further suggested that there's no bad blood between her and Barbra. Doubling down on her previous comment, Melissa shared an Instagram video of her holding up a special edition Barbra magazine.

"The takeaway is Barbra Streisand knows I exist. She reached out to me and she thought I looked good. I win the day," she said in the clip. As for the caption, it read, "@barbrastreisand fan club members only!!!"
