The 'Batman' actor, who reprises his role as the iconic villain from Robert Pattinson's movie, discloses that the upcoming Max series will be 'really dark' and 'heavy.'

AceShowbiz - Colin Farrell has unveiled that the upcoming Max series "The Penguin" will be exceptionally violent, a revelation that should excite fans who were clamoring for an R-rated cut of "The Batman".
"It's incredibly violent," Farrell disclosed in an interview with MovieZine. "It's really dark. It's really heavy."
On "The Penguin," Farrell reprises his role as Gotham City gangster Oswald Cobblepot from "The Batman". The series follows the character's rise to power in the vacuum left by the death of Carmine Falcone at the end of the film.
"It's one man's rise to what he's always dreamed of inhabiting, which is a certain power or social status," Farrell explained.
Farrell described filming the series as "a long and really wonderful experience." While acknowledging the dark and violent nature of the material, he emphasizes the fun he had bringing Cobblepot to life.
Showrunner Lauren LeFranc and Farrell co-created and co-wrote the eight-episode series, which also stars Cristin Milioti, Rhenzy Feliz, Michael Kelly, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Deirdre O'Connell, Clancy Brown and Michael Zegen.
The Max series, which is part of the DC Studios and Warner Bros. Television universe, is expected to premiere this fall. It remains unclear whether Farrell will also reprise the role in "The Batman Part II", which is scheduled to hit theaters in 2026.
