While several social media users criticize the 'Break My Soul' hitmaker for raising the flag in the cover art of her forthcoming album, many others defend her against the critics.

AceShowbiz - Beyonce Knowles has sparked debate over the cover art of her new country album "Cowboy Carter". The "Break My Soul" hitmaker garnered mixed responses from social media users after releasing the controversial artwork.

On Tuesday, March 19, the 42-year-old superstar's patriotic cover art became a hot topic on X, formerly known as Twitter. X users were sharing their views on the songstress, who is slated to unleash the record very soon amid her new country music era, using the American flag in the artwork.

One in particular penned, "Thinking Beyonce. lol BEYONCE is trying to be patriotic and simp for America cause she holding an American flag is crazy. Lmfaoooo you the same mfs that would scream SATIRE when [Kanye West] was wearing the mf confederate flag. But now yall- ok." Meanwhile, some users suggested that she should have "waved the Black American flag."

Though so, others defended Queen Bey against the critics. One of them theorized, "This album cover means so much more. Beyonce is reclaiming what Black Americans created, the American flag falls under that as well. The hidden stars were intentional. We built this country off of our backs. She's taking the reins & makin a statement. She's redefining our history."

Similarly, another stated, "Not people writing think-pieces about Beyonce's COWBOY CARTER album cover. Beyonce is dressed as a RODEO QUEEN. The RODEO QUEEN always holds up the American flag after they win the title. She is from Houston, Texas, and grew up attending rodeos with her family. Her message for ACT II is loud, clear, intentional, and concise. There is nothing more for her to say."

In the meantime, a third noted, "One thing Beyonce is good for is creating conversations. Now look at how many people are getting into the American flag, the meaning, and symbolisms of it. The entire Renaissance is to make us learn, read, and understand. I love that!"

The comments came after Beyonce revealed the cover art. In the artwork, she is seen raising the American flag as she perches atop a white horse. While sporting an outfit in a white, red and blue color, she also dons a white cowboy hat.
