According to Cuyahoga County officials, Kagney's official cause of death is listed as an intraoral shotgun wound. It means she put a shotgun in her mouth and pulled the trigger, per TMZ's report on Tuesday, February 20.
Parma PD is reportedly still investigating her death, though it's noted that police found no sign of foul play and no signs of drugs at the scene. It's unclear who the shotgun that was used belonged to.
Meanwhile, Parma PD tells the publication that it was Kagney's mother who called in to report the suicide. It's believed that she left a note at the home where she was found dead, but the contents are currently unknown.
As reported before, Kagney died at a residence on Redfern Road on Thursday, February 15. In a GoFundMe page launched to fund the cost of her burial and memorial service, her friends Rachel and Megan revealed that the former porn star had "struggled with mental health issues as the years passed by."
They described the late dancer, who moved from Los Angeles to Ohio after leaving the porn business behind, as "a woman who wore many hats; she was a performer, a singer, a dancer, a daughter and a friend." They said her final class with them was on February 7, less than two weeks before Kagney sadly "took her own life in her home."
"As alone as she undoubtedly felt within the confines of her own head, she continued to make an effort to show up for her friends and the community who cared about her," they remembered her. "She fought her own battles with the same tenacity and drive she showed in every other area of her life, with as much strength as she could."
"As cold as the world could be, Kagney brought with her a light," they shared. "She loved deeply. And, because of that, she will be missed just as deeply."
