AceShowbiz - Michael J. Fox made a surprise appearance at the 2024 BAFTAs on Sunday, February 18. At the star-studded ceremony, the "Back to the Future" actor received an emotional standing ovation as he was tapped to present the award for best movie to "Oppenheimer".

Several big names such as Cate Blanchett, Ryan Gosling and Margot Robbie could be seen on their feet while clapping for the actor, who is currently battling Parkinson's disease. People also gave loud cheers for the 62-year-old star.

"They're the best of what we do," Michael said at the podium. "No matter who you are or where you're from, these films can bring us together. There's a reason why they say movies are magic. Because a movie can change your day. It can change your outlook. It can sometimes even change your life."

BAFTAs host David Tennant also honored Michael before he presented the award. David hailed the star as "a true legend of cinema."

Earlier that night, Michael graced the red carpet alongside his wife Tracy Pollan. The veteran actor donned an all-black suit with matching undershirt. His wife, meanwhile, stunned in a long white dress with bedazzling details around the chest.

Last year, Michael got candid about his ongoing health issue after being diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 1991. "The positivity is really sincere, and I really feel it. And it's genuine," he said in a November interview with "CBS Mornings" when asked if he ever battles with depression or uncertainty. "But it's hard fought-and it's hard won, I should say."

"We can find ways to just give ourselves a break, give ourselves credit for getting through life on life's terms," Michael continued. "And in order to do that, you have to stop and say, 'It's not that bad. It's not that bad.' "
