In a new interview, the 'Love in This Club' singer also reveals that he has 'always wanted to do a record' with the 'What Goes Around... Comes Around' hitmaker.

AceShowbiz - Usher appeared to have shown that he remains on good terms with Justin Timberlake despite being compared to each other. The "Love in This Club" singer showered the "What Goes Around... Comes Around" hitmaker with praise as he discussed their respective careers.

In a new interview published by PEOPLE on Wednesday, February 14 for his cover story, the 45-year-old eight-time Grammy winner stated, "I've always wanted to do a record with Justin and have reached out many [times], but we've never managed to make it happen." He gushed, "I think that he's an amazing performer."

About people comparing him to the 43-year-old fellow artist, Usher said, "I think people more than likely need to find comparisons, but we are all unique artists and have our creativity." He explained, "I love the producers that he works with, so much so that I worked with them. And I think he loves the producers that I worked with so much so that he worked with them."

The "Good Good" singer went on to declare, "I'm in competition with no one other than myself, and I've always tried to beat my own record. Beat my own expectations and try and better myself." He then revealed, "And if anything, I've been motivated by people like Justin."

On the reason why, Usher elaborated, "I think that he has a legacy that should be respected and not compared to anybody else. Do I feel at times that the score was a bit unfair in terms of how people even judged us or some of the things that may have been given to him? He had better management staff, you know what I'm saying, access to things I didn't. I'm cool with that."

"I'm confident enough to celebrate any and every artist and can stand on the stage with any of them," the "Yeah!" singer, who performed during the Super Bowl LVIII Halftime Show along with his special guests, continued. "And we entertain and have a great time because music is a place of celebration."

Usher and Justin rose to fame around the same time in the early '00s. The two have a number of similarities, including having silky smooth voices and having headlined the Super Bowl. Furthermore, both of them have new albums coming out this year, with Usher's "Coming Home" being released on February 9 and Justin's "Everything I Thought It Was" due out in March.
