The former star of 'Arrow' has been tapped to play the lead role in the pilot for the upcoming spin-off of 'Suits', which starred Meghan Markle and Patrick J. Adams.

AceShowbiz - Stephen Amell is beyond thrilled for his new project, "Suits L.A.". The former star of "Arrow" has been tapped to play the lead role on the "Suits" spin-off, portraying a character named Ted Black.

According to the official logline, the upcoming NBC legal series will center on Black, "a former federal prosecutor from New York, who has reinvented himself representing the most powerful clients in Los Angeles. His firm is at a crisis point, and in order to survive he must embrace a role he held in contempt his entire career."

"Ted is surrounded by a stellar group of characters who test their loyalties to both Ted and each other while they can't help but mix their personal and professional lives. All of this is going on while events from years ago slowly unravel that led Ted to leave behind everything and everyone he loved," the logline continued.

Of his new role, Amell told PEOPLE that he's "very excited." He added, "It's something very new and different for me - talky-talky, not punchy-punchy."

NBC ordered a pilot for the series earlier this month. The planned series will be set in the same universe as the original legal drama which starred Meghan Markle and Patrick J. Adams. The production will start in late March in Vancouver and will be released some time in the 2024-2025 season if it's ordered to series.

Helmed by "Suits" creator Aaron Korsh, the new series will feature a brand-new cast though it's unknown if the actors from the 2011 series will make an appearance. In addition to writing the pilot, Korsh serves as executive producer alongside former "Suits" EPs David Bartis, Doug Liman and Gene Klein.
