Amy S. Foster, who is following in her father's footsteps as a musician, defends the 16-time Grammy winner against a social media user's criticism of his parenting.

AceShowbiz - David Foster's daughter has spoken up on claim that he abandoned his older children for his youngest son Rennie. Amy S. Foster, who is the musician's second eldest child and daughter, has defended the musician against criticism of his parenting.
The 74-year-old, who shares 2-year-old Rennie with his fifth and current wife Katharine McPhee, recently showed off the toddler's musical talent on social media. On Friday, January 5, he made use of his Instagram page to share a video of Rennie drumming to Michael Jackson's "Rock with You".
The proud father wrote in the caption, "Drumming into the new year ! #still2yearsold." While many in the comments section were full of praise for Rennie's drumming skills, one Instagram user took the opportunity to criticize David's role as a father.
"Lol!!!! He's the dad.....he's also got daughters (he abandoned) older than me," one person commented on the post. Amy caught wind of the negative feedback and shared her response in the comments section.
"Hi....I'm a daughter...absolutely no abandonment," the 50-year-old songwriter and author wrote, tagging the critic. "I literally just talked to my dad five minutes ago," she continued. "Are you sticking up for us?"
Amy clapped back at the user, "All you have to do is look at the comments and Rennie's sisters have all chimed in with compliments...." She went on assuring, "We're great. We love our dad. Our dad loves us and we love how our dad is with Rennie."
Amy's sister Sara also showed love for Rennie in the comments, gushing over his talents, "This is insane."
David is a father of six children. His first child Allison Jones Foster, who was born in 1970 when the singer was 20, was placed for adoption before he reconnected with her when she was 30. The Canadian musician shares daughter Amy with his first wife B.J. Cook.
He welcomed daughters Sara (1981), Erin (1982) and Jordan with his second wife Rebecca Dyer. He was then married to songwriter Linda Thompson and model Yolanda Hadid, which ended with divorce, but has no child with them.
He then married Katharine in 2019 and welcomed their first child together in February 2021. He said of being a father at a later age, "At this point in my life, it's different again. Not better or worse, just different. I still work, I'm still gone a lot, but maybe the time is a little more precious to me because I got more runway behind me than I have ahead of me now."
