AceShowbiz - Nicki Minaj has given a look at how her child is growing up in a flash. In a new social media update, the mother of one has shared a rare video of her son, affectionately called Papa Bear, whom she shares with her husband Kenneth Petty.
In the clip, the 3-year-old appears to be playing with someone behind the camera. The little boy was giving a signal before he started running in a house, which still had a decorated Christmas tree installed in a corner of a room. Nicki captioned the footage with, "You never got to meet #PapaBear."
It's unclear who took the video, but Nicki likely wants to document every little moment with her son before she's busy on the road. The twelve-time Grammy Award nominee is set to embark on a world tour to support her latest and fifth studio album "Pink Friday 2". The tour will kick off on March 1 in Oakland and is set to conclude on June 9 in Paris, France. It will be her first concert tour in five years.
Nicki welcomed her son with Kenneth on September 30, 2020. In a recent TV interview, she talked about how motherhood has changed her for the better. "Just seeing how much more you could love. Because my life was so selfish before he came here. I could do anything I wanted when I wanted. I could take my phone out for days, I could sleep for days, I could travel whenever I wanted to. And since this little human came onto planet Earth, I can't do anything without thinking about him first," she said on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" in December 2023.
The "Super Bass" hitmaker went on to add that motherhood has been worth the sacrifice because her son's face is "worth more" than anything she could possibly buy as she joked she is thrilled to have "pushed him out" into the world. She said, "There's this thing that happens everyday when I see his face, which is more than anything money could buy in the world. And so, I'm really happy I pushed him out."
As to why she chose to nickname her son Papa Bear, the 41-year-old explained to Vogue, "I don't know. I've always been a nickname person. I give everyone I love these nicknames, normally. He actually had a couple nicknames. His first nickname while he was in my stomach was 'Bubba.' When he came out, it just transformed into 'Papa Bear.' I can't explain it, but when I look at him that's what I thought."
