The 'Just a Dream' hitmaker, who confirmed his reconciliation with the singer in mid-September, reportedly loves the special gift because it 'had a much more sentimental reason behind it.'

AceShowbiz - Nelly couldn't be happier to receive a special gift from Ashanti for his 49th birthday. The "Just a Dream" hitmaker was reportedly in "total shock" after his on-again girlfriend surprised him with a vintage 1962 Impala.

"Ashanti couldn't wait to give Nelly the car for his birthday," a source told Us Weekly. "She had been planning this surprise for months and it was such a hard secret to keep. But seeing his reaction made it all worthwhile."

"He couldn't believe Ashanti went out of her way to get him this vintage 1962 Impala," the source further explained. "He was in total shock and overcome with emotion when he saw it. This gift meant the world to him because it had a much more sentimental reason behind it. This was Nelly's dream car since he was a kid and he couldn't believe Ashanti gave him such a thoughtful gift. It's one of the best presents he's ever received."

Nelly, who turned 49 on Thursday, November 2, gave fans a look at his new car through an Instagram post. Sharing photos of him and the "Only U" songstress checking out the vehicle, he gushed, "Sometimes all you can say is 'Thank You' Best gift I ever received besides my kids!!!! You showed out shawty!!! Love you @ashanti."

The post did not go unnoticed by Ashanti. In the comment section, she replied, "Ur welcome bighead! Your face was priceless! love u too! Pound town soon as I get back to the house!"

Nelly confirmed his reconciliation with Ashanti in mid-September. "Yeah, we cool again. I think it surprised both of us though. It wasn't anything that I don't think was planned," Nelly told "Love and Hip Hop" stars Rasheeda and Kirk Frost in a new interview.

Nelly believes spending so long apart from one another has been helpful with their reunion because the distance allowed them to "understand" each other and their relationship better. He explained, "I think we both were pretty much doing what we do, but sometimes being separate you understand one another more."

"You be like, 'Yo, let me see exactly what they see,' " he elaborated further. "You know, because we all can be defensive sometimes in our own relationships. We know we wrong but we going to stand on it. But we all a victim to that."
