The influencer/reality TV star sisters come under fire after they pretend to be minimum wage workers at Walmart to promote a new product in a viral TikTok video.

AceShowbiz - Charli D'Amelio and Dixie D'Amelio's new TikTok video didn't sit well with Internet users. The influencer/reality TV star sisters came under fire after they pretended to be minimum wage workers at Walmart to promote a new product.

In the viral video, "The D'Amelio Show" stars could be seen wearing cashier uniforms at the supermarket giant. While seemingly having fun, the siblings acted as if they rang up bags of Be Happy Snacks popcorn at the cash register.

Fans, however, didn't find the video funny. "i wish i had enough money to cosplay as a retail worker, so fun being in the working class," one TikTok user wrote in the comments section. Echoing the sentiment, another pointed out that they were "seeing this after working 12hr shifts 4 days a week to barely afford to live."

Feeling offended, one other commented, "I feel like this makes a mockery of working class jobs but okay." The video also left someone questioning, "Why do rich people always try so hard to be relatable?"

Not all comments were negative. A fan defended the young social media stars by saying, "Let me take this in a positive way. she is trying to connect with her audience or she want to experience different aspects of life." Another fan reasoned, "It could be seen as an attempt to connect with her audience."

While neither Charli and Dixie has commented on the backlash, they previously revealed that the name for the snacks was inspired by the latter's 2020 song "Be Happy". "It is so personal for me and obviously became a little bit of a meme during quarantine like, 'Be Happy'. Sometimes I don't want to be happy," she admitted while laughing. "It's so cool that it's still part of what we're doing and our family. Plus, it looks really cool on the bag."

Of the packing, Dixie explained, "Charli and I, sometimes we do buy snacks by the cover. I would buy something because it looks cute." However, she ensured that Be Happy "tastes good, too."
