The 'Sherri' host also defends LSU Tigers' Angel Reese against backlash for taunting Iowa Hawkeyes' Caitlin Clark during the NCAA championship game, stressing that Caitlin isn't a 'victim.'

AceShowbiz - Sherri Shepherd has weighed in on the hot debates following the 2023 NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament championship game which was won by LSU Tigers. Calling out Jill Biden for inviting the losing team, Iowa Hawkeyes, to come along for a celebration at the White House, the actress urged the First Lady to apologize to LSU.

"You know what, you black women put her husband in so what side are you going to be on," the former "The View" co-host said of the situation during a quick interview with TMZ. She accused Jill of having a political agenda with her invitation to the losing team, saying, "You never invite the loosing team to the White House. I know you want Iowa to vote for your husband but stop it!"

Asked if she thinks FLOTUS should apologize to LSU, she clearly said, "Yes she should apologize, absolutely stop putting the agenda for what's suppose to be right."

Sherri is also all for the players going to have dinner with Michelle Obama, but she said they deserve to go to the White House. "They deserve to go to the White House like everybody else who has won they're supposed to be at the White House, not the looser that's why the winner gets to go. If it was the other way around it would never be this situation," she explained.

The 55-year-old also defended LSU's Angel Reese who faced backlash for taunting Iowa's Caitlin Clark with the John Cena "you can't see me" taunt during the Sunday, April 2 game. She added, "And nobody taunts a player it's called trash talking and stop making Caitlin out to be victim cause she's not."

Jill previously said she would love to have both LSU and Iowa at the White House after the former team defeated the latter at the national title game. Responding to the First Lady's statement, Angel said on "I Am Athlete", "I just know if the roles were reversed, it wouldn't be the same." She added, "If we were to lose, we would not be getting invited to the White House."

The 20-year-old went on questioning if the First Lady attended the game to support both teams or if she was solely rooting for Iowa to win. "Last night, San Diego State lost. I didn't see her say, 'Oh, San Diego State is coming as well.' That's weird to me," she pointed out.

The White House later seemingly tried to walk back the First Lady's comments. "The First Lady loved watching the NCAA women's basketball championship game alongside young student athletes and admires how far women have advanced in sports since the passing of Title IX," the First Lady's Press Secretary said on social media.

Explaining FLOTUS' statements, the White House staffer added, "Her comments in Colorado were intended to applaud the historic game and all women athletes. She looks forward to celebrating the LSU Tigers on their championship win at the White House."

President Joe Biden has since released his own statement to invite Iowa Tigers and Uconn men's basketball team, the winner of the men's championship, to the White House. He did not extend an invitation to the LSU despite his wife's wish, but praised the team for demonstrating "excellence on and off the court."
