AceShowbiz - Angela Bassett's reaction to being snubbed at the 2023 Oscars went viral. In a video that circulated online, the "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" actress looked like she wasn't having it when it was revealed that she didn't win the Actress in a Supporting Role category.

The clip saw Angela looking stunning in a beautiful purple dress. She was featured on the screen alongside fellow nominees who included Hong Chau ("The Whale"), Kerry Condon ("The Banshees of Inisherin"), Stephanie Hsu ("Everything Everywhere All at Once") and Jamie Lee Curtis ("Everything Everywhere All at Once").

Jamie was later named as the winner of the prize. Other nominees were seen clapping and being excited for Jamie, while Angela looked visibly disappointed.

After the clip went viral, fans had mixed responses to the matter. "I felt her disappointment. She's truly one of the [goat emoji] and the constant snubs is just disrespectful," one person said. One other commented, "Good she deserves to be upset there wasn't one scene in black Panther she didn't GIVE HER ALL."

"Angela's performance was the first time a Marvel movie was nominated for acting. They played in her face. I don't blame her," someone said. Another person added, "Because THEY PLAYED IN HER FACE, f that wack award. You people know you are and will ALWAYS be that girl Angie!!"

Some others, meanwhile, didn't understand why it was important to win Oscars. "Idk why black actors/actresses continue to support and seek relevance from the Oscar's," one wondered. Echoing the sentiment, one user wrote, "My dad said 'why tf black folks even show up.' "

On the other hand, Jamie took the stage and thanked her parents and everyone in the industry who helped her get this far during her award acceptance speech. "My mother and my father were both nominated for Oscars in different categories. And I just won an Oscar," the "Halloween" actress said as she held her head in disbelief.
