Meanwhile, the first award to be announced at the Jimmy Kimmel-hosted live telecast is for Best Animated Feature, which goes to Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio'.

AceShowbiz - The 95th annual Academy Awards has handed out some of the trophies at the ceremony, which is currently underway at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. "Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio" was the first winner of the night, with Ke Huy Quan and Jamie Lee Curtis also among the early winners.

The stop-motion animated musical dark fantasy film won the Oscar for Best Animated Feature, which was the first category announced during the live telecast on Sunday, March 12. It bested "Marcel the Shell with Shoes On", "Puss in Boots: The Last Wish", "The Sea Beast" and "Turning Red".

Ke Huy Quan followed it up with his win for Best Supporting Actor for his role in "Everything Everywhere All at Once". It's his first Academy Award nomination and win.

"Mom, I just won an Oscar!" he shouted as he began his speech. "My journey started on a boat, I spent a year at a refugee camp...They say stories like this only happen in the movies." He continued, "This is the American dream," as the crowd erupted in applause. He went on thanking his mother for his sacrifice and for his wife, whom he dubbed "the love of my life."

His co-star Jamie Lee Curtis, whose parents are actors Janet Leigh and Tony Curtis, won the Best Supporting Actress for her role in the Daniels' absurdist comedy-drama film. She got emotional as she accepted the prize, which also marks her first Oscar nomination and win.

The "Halloween" actress thanked her parents and everyone in the industry who helped her get this far. "My mother and my father were both nominated for Oscars in different categories. And I just won an Oscar," she said as she held her head in disbelief.

Other winners already announced at the ceremony were Best Documentary Feature Film which went to "Navalny" by Daniel Roher, Odessa Rae, Diane Becker, Melanie Miller and Shane Boris and Best Live Action Short which went to "An Irish Goodbye Tom Berkeley" and Ross White.

Jimmy Kimmel is hosting the event, which will feature performances of Best Song nominees by the likes of Rihanna, Lady GaGa, Sofia Carson and Diane Warren.
