The singer/rapper will become one of the three younger recipients after Taylor Swift, who received the honor at 20 in 2010, and Nick Jonas, who was honored at the age of 23 as well in 2016.

AceShowbiz - Lil Nas X will add one more accolade to his resume. The "MONTERO (Call Me by Your Name)" hitmaker is set to receive the Hal David Starlight Award at the 2022 Songwriters Hall of Fame gala, which will be held on June 16 at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York.

Born Montero Lamar Hill, the 23-year-old will be only the second hip-hop musician to receive the honor. The first rapper who snagged the award was Drake back in 2011. He will also become one of the three younger recipients after Taylor Swift, who received the honor at 20 in 2010, and Nick Jonas, who was honored at the age of 23 as well in 2016.

According to the SHOF, the honorees are "gifted young songwriters who are making a significant impact in the music industry via their original songs." Previous receipents included Halsey, Sara Bareilles, Ed Sheeran, John Legend, Alicia Keys and John Mayer among others.

In a statement, SHOF chair Nile Rodgers said, "Lil Nas X is someone we are very proud to award the Hal David Starlight Award to. He has perhaps better than anyone demonstrated how powerful great songs are, with 'Old Town Road' and 'Montero' dominating the charts for almost every day of the last three years." Rodgers continued, "If you're lucky enough to be alive at this time, you know exactly who Lil Nas X is and he's an incredible and inspirational person for every one of his communities as well."

President & CEO Linda Moran added, "Lil Nas X's thought-provoking multi-genre song/musical style - described as pop rap, hip hop, country rap, trap, pop rock, pop, and rock - speaks soundly to diverse generations of fans. He is certainly worthy of joining the esteemed list of past Starlight Award honorees."

The news arrived nearly one month after Nas X announced his first-ever tour. Making use of Instagram on April 26, the Grammy winner shared a video that highlighted some of his big moments throughout his career. In the voiceover, he said, "Hello, I am Montero and I welcome you to my event. The 'Long Live Montero' tour. My world. My universe."

Nas X will kick off the North American leg at Detroit's The Fillmore on September 6. He is set to make stops in other cities like Chicago, Boston, New York, Philadephia, Washington D.C., Atlanta, Los Angeles and others before continuing his tour in Europe.
