When asked what she thought of the Duchess of Sussex's explosive tell-all, the former First Lady reminds that young women 'should not be forced into a mold that is no longer relevant.'

AceShowbiz - Hillary Clinton is taking Meghan Markle's side after the latter sat down with Oprah Winfrey for a revealing interview about the Royal family. When asked to share her thoughts on what the Duchess of Sussex spilled in the explosive tell-all, the former First Lady stressed that the wife of Prince Harry had every right to live her life.

The 73-year-old politician offered her two cents during a Washington Post Live event on Monday, March 8. "This young woman was not about to keep her head down. You know, this is 2021, and she wanted to live her life. She wanted to, you know, be fully engaged and she had every right to hope for that," she first said of Meghan.

"Every institution has got to make more space and acceptance for young people coming up," the former Secretary of State went on. "Particularly young women, who should not be forced into a mold that is no longer relevant, not only for them but for our society."

During the chat, Hillary also claimed that it was "heartbreaking" to see Meghan and her husband Prince Harry "describe how difficult it was to be accepted, to be integrated, not just into the royal family as they described, but more painfully into the larger society's, whose narrative is driven by tabloids that are living in the past."

"I just hope that there will be some serious, thoughtful consideration in all of the institutions," she added. "I just couldn't help but watch last night and really feel that these two young people--because by my standards they still are young--are not only standing up for themselves and for their children. But they're really trying to send a message about what institutions, including the one that they were part of, need to do to be more dynamic and forward-looking than they currently are."

Hillary's statement came after "Oprah with Meghan and Harry: A CBS Primetime Special" aired on Sunday, March 7. In the interview, Meghan got candid about her experience living under the supervision of the British royals. The former "Suits" actress revealed, "In those months when I was pregnant ... we have in tandem the conversation of 'he won't be given security, he's not going to be given a title'... [there were] also concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he's born."

During the chat, the expectant mom further disclosed that she contemplated suicide while living in the palace. "Look, I was really ashamed to have to say it at the time and ashamed to have to admit it to Harry especially, but I knew that if I didn't say that I would do it. I just didn't want to be alive anymore," she pointed out.
