AceShowbiz - The YouTube community is mourning the loss of one of its members. Emily Hartridge, who is known for her videos under the name Emily Hart, died on Friday morning, July 12 following a fatal collision between an electric scooter and a truck. She was 35.
London's Metropolitan Police Service said in a press release that a woman in her 30s had suffered serious injuries after a crash between an electric scooter and a lorry at Queenstown Road, junction with Battersea Park Road SW8. Officers and London Ambulance Service attended, but the woman's life could not be saved as she was pronounced dead at the scene.
While the police did not identify the woman, it's been confirmed that the victim was Emily. It's also said that the crash was the "first fatal collision involving an e-scooter" in Britain.
Emily's family announced the devastating news on her Instagram page, writing, "Hi everyone. This is a horrible thing to have to say over Instagram but we know many of you were expecting to see Emily today and this is the only way to contact you all at once." They continued, "Emily was involved in an accident yesterday and passed away. We all loved her to bits and she will never be forgotten she has touched so many lives it's hard to imagine things without her. She was a very special person."
Following the news, YouTube Creators paid condolences in a tribute post that was shared on Twitter. It read, "We're deeply saddened to learn about the tragic loss of a truly talented British creator, Emily Hartridge. Our thought and condolences go out to all of her loved ones and fans."
Many fans have also paid tribute to the late social media star. "My heart goes out to Emily's family and friends. Such a shock. Sending you love and prayers," one Instagram user wrote. Another still couldn't belief that her favorite star had gone, saying, "I absolutely loved Emily's account it was full of light and positivity." One other similarly wrote, "Finding it hard to understand how this could happened. All my thought are with her family."
"I just can't believe I am reading this. I am utterly devastated, she inspired and empowered so many of us. Sending so much love to her family," an individual said. Someone else was trying to deny the reality to no avail as writing, "I was so strongly hoping this was a dark joke but sadly it's true. Can't believe it. Can't imagine what the family are going through. Love and hugs to everyone."
Emily began posting videos on YouTube seven years ago, with most of her videos featuring her discussing a range of topics including sex, relationship, love, gender and life. She also posted about her personal life, such as freezing her eggs, her sexuality and mental health. Her latest video was posted on July 8. Titled "10 Reasons to Get a Younger Boyfriend", Emily talked about her relationship with Jake Hazell, who is 8 years her junior.
