AceShowbiz - K-Pop star Goo Hara has regained her consciousness after attempting suicide. On Tuesday, May 28, the 28-year-old singer/actress has released a statement through her representative to assure fans that she is on the mend.

"I'm truly sorry for causing concern due to the recent event. I am currently recovering my health," she said in the statement published via Japanese news outlets. Revealing the reason why she wanted to take her own life, the former member of South Korean girl group Kara admitted, "I was feeling distressed due to various incidents that piled up."

"I will try my best to show a healthy side of myself by having a stronger mindset," she promised, before apologizing again to her fans who were worried about her, "I am truly sorry about the recent incident."

Goo Hara was found unconscious in her house full of smoke in Cheongdam, Seoul by her manager on Sunday, May 26. The manager quickly put out the source of the smoke and cleared out the air through the window, and called emergency services. She was then rushed to a hospital.

In an anonymous interview, her manager revealed that Goo Hara had been suffering from extreme depression and her agency Content Y had been keeping a close eye on her. When Goo Hara posted alarming messages on Instagram that hinted at her being suicidal hours before the incident, her manager tried to call her, but she didn't respond.

"Goo Hara has recently been battling depression. We were aware of that and we've been paying attention to her well-being," the manager said. "That's why when she didn't answer her phone, I went to check on her immediately. And I found her passed out on the floor."

Hours before her suicide attempt, Goo Hara posted on Instagram a now-deleted image of herself and captioned it, "Goodbye." On Saturday, May 25, she also shared a quote on Instagram Stories that hinted at her depression.
