The 'All the Money in the World' actress confirms in a new interview that she's playing the ex-wife of Tom Hardy's Eddie Brock.

AceShowbiz - Michelle Williams' role in Sony's "Venom (2018)" has been confirmed. After previously rumored to be playing an attorney and possible love interest for Tom Hardy's Eddie Brock a.k.a. the titular Symbiote host, the 37-year-old actress has now confirmed that she's playing Anne Weying, Brock's ex-wife.

In a sit-down interview with Screen Rant, Williams first talked about what gauged her interest in joining the cast of "Venom", revealing that getting the chance to work together with Hardy was a major draw. "We're having fun. Um, we're having fun. It's, um, well for me it's Tom (Hardy)," she told the outlet.

"I just thought, well, that guy knows what he's doing," said the actress, who did the interview to promote her new movie "All the Money in the World". "I'm just going to go steal some of his moves, figure out what he knows. I just wanted to, you know, you're only as good as the people you play with and I really wanted to challenge myself with him as a partner."

Williams then confirmed she's playing Anne Weying in the upcoming Spider-Man spin-off, though she didn't reveal much about her character. "I've done one other movie where I was asked to track a tennis ball with my eyes and pretend it was a giant creature thing. Not my favorite thing in the world to do, but it is a skill set and I'm trying to learn it," she said. "And uh, she's, geez, what can I tell you? Not too much right now."

For those who are not familiar with Anne Weying, she is Eddie Brock's ex-wife who shares a complicated relationship with the host of Symbiote. In the comics, she eventually merges with the Symbiote herself to become She-Venom. It's unclear if the big-screen version will remain faithful to the comics, though.

"Venom" is set for an October 5, 2018 release in U.S. theaters. Serving behind the lens is Ruben Fleischer, with a screenplay provided by Scott Rosenberg ("Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle") and Jeff Pinker ("The Dark Tower"). The cast also includes Jenny Slate who is set to play a scientist, Riz Ahmed who is eyed to play "an Elon Musk type" lab owner, and Woody Harrelson who is wanted as "a henchman of sorts."
