'Supergirl' Casts Another Comic Book Villain, Hellgrammite
TV

'Powers' actor Justice Leak will play the alien that the titular superheroine will be chasing on the upcoming CBS series.

AceShowbiz - "Supergirl" is yet to debut on CBS, but a bunch of baddies are already lining up to bring trouble for Kara Zor-El. Newly added to the list is the villainous Hellgrammite, who will be portrayed by "Powers" actor Justice Leak on the upcoming series.

In the comics, Hellgrammite was originally entomologist Roderick Rose who is transformed into the insect-like villain due to some experimentation. His powers include super-strength, improved jumping and creating cocoons to imprison foes or transform them into larvae versions of himself.

However, according to EW, on the TV series he is described as an alien that Supergirl will be chasing. It's unclear how far this twist will affect the portrayal of the said villain on the CBS show.

"Supergirl" tells the story of Superman's cousin Kara Zor-El (Melissa Benoist), who also lands on Earth after escaping Krypton. She's been hiding the powers she shares with Superman, but later decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be.

Brit Morgan was recently cast as DC Comics villain Livewire a.k.a. Leslie Willis, Owain Yeoman was previously tapped to portray villainous Vartox, and Chris Browning was booked to play Ben Krull a.k.a. Reactron. The cast also includes Chyler Leigh as Kara's foster sister Alex Danvers, Mehcad Brooks as Kara's love interest Jimmy Olsen, Calista Flockhart as Kara's boss Cat Grant, Laura Benanti as her birth mother Alura Zor-El, and Peter Facinelli as DC Comics character Maxwell Lord.

The new series will premiere Monday, October 26 at 8:30 P.M. on CBS, before airing in its regular slot beginning Monday, November 2 at 8 P.M.
