Despite many criticisms, the 'Ghostbusters' director is confident about the 'Play-Doh' movie because it has 'one of the funniest pitches I've ever heard in my life.'

AceShowbiz - Paul Feig confirms he is attached to helm "Play-Doh" live-action movie. Aware of the negative comments regarding the project, the director admits he was also skeptical about making a movie based on children's colorful clay until he heard the pitch. "One of the funniest pitches I've ever heard in my life," he describes it.

"Honestly, when it was first brought to me and they asked 'Can you make a movie out of this?' I thought the same thing, like 'What the f**k do you do with that?' " Feig tells Yahoo! Movies before quickly adding, "But if you think about it, it's just claymation. All Play-Doh is is multi-colored clay. What greater playing thing?"

Developed by Fox in partnership with Hasbro, "Play-Doh" is written by Jason Micallef. It draws comparison to WB's "The Lego Movie". Many people back then didn't think a movie based on the building block toys could actually work either, but Phil Lord & Christopher Miller proved them wrong. It went on to gross a cool $658 million worldwide and earn an Oscar nomination. It now spawns not only a sequel but also spin-offs.

"The problem with the business in general is that stuff gets announced and nobody knows any context for what you're going to do or what your idea is, and so all they have is the ability to just lose their minds," Feig commented. "That happened on Ghostbusters. They come from a place of thinking you're going to do the absolute worst version of whatever it is that they think you're going to do ... A lot of times you want to go, 'Just wait!' "
