The 'Mission Impossible' actor has reportedly become the butt of the jokes in the capital city of U.K. as he recently attempted to adopt a British accent while in the country.

AceShowbiz - Tom Cruise's recent adoption of a British accent has reportedly sparked widespread ridicule in London, with sources describing it as a bizarre blend of Mary Poppins and Margaret Thatcher.

Echoing the laughter provoked by Madonna's similarly inauthentic accent during her decade-long London residency, Cruise's attempt has been met with widespread amusement. "Everyone nods and smiles to his face," says an insider to InTouch, "but behind Tom's back, they're laughing."

The 61-year-old superstar's accent is considered notably worse than Madonna's, with sly comparisons drawn to its decidedly un-British origins. However, given Cruise's formidable reputation and status as a Hollywood legend, few have dared to voice their true opinions to his face.

In February before the Super Bowl, Tom Cruise joined Prince William at a gala in support of London's Air Ambulance Charity at Raffles London at the OWO (Old War Office). He was also accompanied by a female companion while in U.K.
