The 'Ant-Man and the Wasp, Quantumania' villain was supposed to be sentenced on Tuesday, February 6, but it has been pushed back after his team filed a motion to set aside the verdict.

AceShowbiz - Sentencing for Jonathan Majors in the assault case involving his ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari has been delayed. The sentencing was scheduled for Tuesday, February 6, but it has been pushed back to April 8 after his team filed a motion to set aside the verdict.

The 34-year-old was set to be sentenced in Manhattan criminal court on misdemeanor third-degree assault and second-degree harassment charges. However, his legal team argued in their motion filed on Monday that the actor's guilty verdict should be vacated, in part, because the prosecution did not have sufficient evidence.

They also insisted that the court presented inconsistent assault counts for the jury before deliberations. Prosecutors have until next month to respond to the defense motion.

The "Ant-Man and the Wasp, Quantumania" villain made a court appearance via video link. He waved at his lawyer before the hearing started, and nodded as Judge Michael Gaffey discussed the delay.

"The Court has already heard and rejected the arguments supporting this motion when the defense originally raised them during the trial," a Manhattan District Attorney's Office spokesperson told The Daily Beast. "The jury then convicted Mr. Majors of Assault in the 3rd Degree and Harassment in the 2nd Degree. We will respond in detail in court papers."

Majors was found guilty in December 2023 and the verdict led Disney to fire him from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He had played Kang the Conqueror in "Ant-Man and the Wasp, Quantumania" and the Disney+ series "Loki".

The actor could be jailed for up to a year when he is sentenced and the case could spell the end of his Hollywood career. The Hollywood Reporter has said that the "Creed III" star was set to front 2026's "The Avengers, Kang Dynasty", which has now been renamed "Avengers 5".
