On Tuesday, January 23, the SKIMS founder shared a couple of pictures of her posing while being surrounded by Balenciaga purses in her closet. She also uploaded a video where she was asked how many bags displayed on the four shelves around the room.
"My guess will be 130," she told the camera crew. After actually counting each one, she learned that she had 129 bags in total. "129! I'm one bag off. You guys, I won," "The Kardashians" star, who flaunted her figure in a black strapless bodysuit, excitedly said.
The post arrived after Kim was announced as the new brand ambassador for Balenciaga. The fashion mogul said in a statement, "For several years now, Balenciaga's designs have been a part of my many looks - and some of my most iconic fashion moments. This historic fashion house embraces modernity, craftsmanship and takes an innovative approach to design under Demna."
She went on to say, "For me, this long-standing relationship is built on mutual trust and a commitment to doing what's right. I'm excited about this next chapter for the brand and to become their ambassador."
Internet users immediately put Kim on blast over the new deal considering the brand's past controversy over a BDSM-themed campaign involving children. "The same brand that sexualized children, we just supposed to forget about that?" one person wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter. "Kim will support anything and do anything for money. Even a brand ambassador for pedophilia," one other added.
In response to the scandal, Kim shared at the time that she's re-evaluating her relationship with the French-based brand. "I have been quiet for the past few days, not because I haven't been disgusted and outraged by the recent Balenciaga campaigns, but because I wanted an opportunity to speak to their team to understand for myself how this could have happened," she said in 2022. "As a mother of four, I have been shaken by the disturbing images. The safety of children must be held with the highest regard and any attempts to normalize child abuse of any kind should have no place in our society - period."
"As for my future with Balenciaga, I am currently re-evaluating my relationship with the brand, basing it off their willingness to accept accountability for something that should have never happened to begin with - & the actions I am expecting to see them take to protect children," she added in a separate statement.
