AceShowbiz - Mariah Carey had a special treat for fans during her show in Toronto. The singing diva delighted concertgoers when she brought her 11-year-old daughter Monroe to the stage for a surprise duet at the Scotiabank Arena on Friday night, December 9.
In a YouTube video posted by a fan, Mariah could be seen introducing Roe, whom she shares with ex-husband Nick Cannon. She told the crowds that her kids, Roe and her twin Moroccan, are "the greatest gift" for her.
The "Hero" hitmaker raved, "This is my baby girl, here. Eleven years ago, I got the greatest gift. You know what, I don't have birthdays, but the birthing day was the greatest gift ever, when I had my twins Roc and Roe, and once again I'd like to introduce you to my daughter, Monroe."
For the performance, the mom and daughter were twinning in sparkly white dresses and tiaras. They perfectly embodied the spirit of the season as they sat on a set that included Christmas trees, presents and toy soldiers.
"This is our first duet," Mariah, who stressed that she never forced her kids to do anything, explained to the sold-out crowd. "Alright, this is a beautiful, beautiful hymn called 'Away in a Manger'. We've been working on this one for a minute."
Mariah and Roe then offered a beautiful performance of the 19th-century carol. After finishing the brief performance, Mariah proudly said, "My daughter, Miss Monroe."
The concert marked the first of Mariah's four special Christmas performances after COVID-19. After returning to the stage in Toronto on Sunday, the "All I Want for Christmas Is You" hitmaker is set to head to the iconic Madison Square in New York for two more shows on December 13 and 16.
For those who are unable to attend Mariah's Christmas tour, the singer's two-hour concert special "Mariah Carey: Merry Christmas to All!" will air on December 20 on CBS and Paramount+.
