AceShowbiz - Winners of the 2018 People's Choice Awards have been announced during a live ceremony at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California on Sunday, November 11. In music category, BTS (Bangtan Boys) came out as the biggest winner even though the band didn't show up to the event.
The South Korean boyband collected three trophies, largely thanks to their recent hit "IDOL" which won Song of 2018 and Music Video of 2018. RM (Rap Monsters) and the others additionally claimed the coveted Group of 2018 after beating down other strong contenders such as Twenty One Pilots, 5 Seconds of Summer and Super Junior.
Despite their absence, BTS still delivered their acceptance speech through a video, thanking their dedicated fans. "We are so honored to win the group of 2018. We just finished touring America and can't wait to come back and see you guys," they said, before shouting out, "Big love!"
BTS did not only win in music category as they were also named the winner of Social Celebrity of 2018, bringing their total number of awards to four.
Trailing behind BTS with two awards were their "IDOL" collaborator, Nicki Minaj. The Young Money female emcee bagged home Album of 2018 for "Queen" in addition to Female Artist of 2018. Taking the stage to accept the latter trophy, she gave a very special shout out to her "epic" fans as well as Michael B. Jordan. "I can't imagine my life without you. I love you to pieces!" she said. "And shout out to Michael B. Jordan cause he's gonna be taking it off of me tonight."
Other musicians who nabbed an award at the event included Shawn Mendes, Blake Shelton and Taylor Swift.
