The Aberdeen Museum of History in Washington went up in flames on Saturday.

AceShowbiz - A collection of Kurt Cobain rarities has been destroyed by a fire at the Aberdeen Museum of History in Washington.

Artwork and other items went up in flames when the blaze broke out on Saturday, June 09.

Aberdeen fire chief Tom Hubbard called the tragedy a "massive destruction of historic items and a devastating loss for the city".

Cobain's Nirvana bandmate Krist Novoselic has responded to the fire news via social media, sharing footage of the fire online and writing: "This is terrible. Hope people are safe".

Fire department experts are currently investigating the cause of the fire.
