The 23-year-old singer is coping with hearbreak after losing someone he loves in the new track off his upcoming album 'Flicker'.

AceShowbiz - Hours after announcing his debut solo album "Flicker", Niall Horan releases a new song off the upcoming effort. Titled "Too Much to Ask", the tender ballad is about losing someone you love. It finds the Irish singer serenading his ex-lover while nursing his heartbreak.

Niall showcases his heartfelt approach as he rhymes over the soft, folky tunes, "And, oh, love, do you feel this rough? Why's it only you I'm thinking of/ My shadow's dancing/ Without you for the first time/ My heart is hoping/ You'll walk right in tonight/ Tell me there are things that you regret/ 'Cause if I'm being honest I ain't over you yet/ It's all I'm asking/ Is it too much to ask?"

The heartbreak jam was seemingly inspired by Niall's personal experience. Before the release of the song, the "This Town" hitmaker took to Twitter to share, "It's a very special song to me and I hope you like it." He previously also revealed that it was one of his favorite tracks off "Flicker".

Besides "Too Much to Ask", "Flicker" will feature Niall's previous releases such as "This Town", "Slow Hands", "On the Loose" and "Seeing Blind" featuring Maren Morris. The One Direction star previously said of the album, "There was a lot of 1D stuff I wrote that was along the lines of Fleetwood Mac, stuff like that, and I hear myself in them songs now sometimes. But this time it's just completely me, so I get to do what I want when I want, really."

Niall is currently on the road in support of the upcoming album. After kicking off the intimate trek with a hometown gig in Dublin, Ireland, he will be visiting some countries like Australia, Sweden and Japan. He will return to the U.S. on September 19 for the North American run. The tour is set to conclude on November 22 in San Fransisco.
