'The 9th Life of Louis Drax' First Trailer Is Full of Mysteries

Neurologist Dr. Allan Pascal (Jamie Dornan) uses unorthodox techniques in attempt to tap into Louis' (Aiden Longworth) unconscious mind and reveal the truth behind his fall.

AceShowbiz - The first trailer of psychological thriller "The 9th Life of Louis Drax", directed by Alexandre Aja, has been released. It follows a 9-year-old boy who gets into an accident that leaves him in a coma. Through several scenes, it's revealed that the boy has several times cheated death.

The trailer opens with Aiden Longworth's Louis Drax having a picnic with his parents to celebrate his ninth birthday. One particular scene shows Louis falling off a cliff. He is later pronounced death before ending up in a coma.

"We're not supposed to use the word miracle, but this might call for an exception," neurologist Dr. Allan Pascal (Jamie Dornan) tells Louis' mother (Sarah Gadon). There is also a glimpse of the doctor and the mother having an affair.

Another scene shows the doctor using unorthodox techniques. "What if Louis reaching out?" he convinces a psychologist named Dr. Perez (Oliver Platt) about his plan to access the boy's consciousness and reveal the truth about the accident, which has something to do with the boy's father (Aaron Paul).

The movie is an adaptation of Liz Jensen's best-selling novel of the same title. Max Minghella pens the script. Minghella also produces the movie alongside Aja, Tim Bricknell and Shawn Williamson through Antcolony Films.

"The 9th Life of Louis Drax" follows Louis Drax (Longworth), a brilliant but strange boy. Every year something violent seems to happen to him. On his ninth birthday, Louis goes on a picnic with his parents and falls off a cliff. The details are shrouded in mystery. Louis' mother is shell-shocked and his father has vanished.

Louis is miraculously alive, but deep in a coma after being dead for two hours. In order to reveal the strange circumstances surrounding the young boy's accident, Dr. Allan Pascal is drawn into a thrilling mystery, testing the boundaries of fantasy and reality.

Also starring Molly Parker and Barbara Hershey, the film hits U.S. theaters on September 2.
