Tyanna Jones and Sarina-Joi Crowe are among those who earn praises from the judges though their covers of Motown songs are still not perfect.

AceShowbiz - "American Idol" revealed the top 8 girls on Thursday night, March 5. Sent through to the next round, Tyanna Jones took the stage first to sing Michael Jackson's "Rockin' Robin". Keith Urban said it's a great way to open the show, while Jennifer Lopez said she was reminded of legendary performers.

Loren Lott was also safe, singing another song by MJ, "I Wanna Be Where You Are". J.Lo said her performance made her smile. Harry Connick Jr. said that Loren raised an already-high bar even higher.

Maddie Walker got the third spot in the top 8. She performed "I'll Be There" by the Jackson 5. Harry said Maddie deserved to be here, but complained about lack of variation. Keith praised her for making the song her own, while J.Lo called it a solid performance.

Joey Cook put a spin on "Shop Around" by The Miracles. Keith said her custom music suited her, and J.Lo liked it that she's "so unique." Harry, however, worried that people would tire of her too stylized performance.

Sarina-Joi Crowe also made it through. She sang "You've Really Got a Hold of Me" by the Miracles. J.Lo dubbed her "the best singer here." Harry loved her smile, but warned her to focus on intonation, pitch and singing in tune. Keith agreed, but he praised her for not getting distracted by reactions from the audience.

From there, the rest of the performances couldn't get better. Adanna Duru covered "Hello" by Lionel Richie. Harry gave her an A+ on singing the lyrics, but said that "the whole thing was out of tune." J.Lo said she just liked it and didn't love it.

Jax was the next to be deemed safe. She sang a slow and jazzy version of "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell. Keith praised her artistry, but J.Lo said she's venturing so far from the original and it didn't work this time. On the side note, Jax wore the dress that people had been debating whether it's blue and black or white and gold.

Alexis Gomez secured the last spot in the top 8. She sang "I Can't Help Myself (Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch)" by The Four Tops. J.Lo said it was out of key, while Harry told her to control herself and settle down.

This means Shannon Berthiaume, Shi Scott, Lovey James and Katherine Winston were eliminated. Next Wednesday, the top 12 contestants will be singing their audition songs.
