AceShowbiz - After spawning a TV spin-off, Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is getting its own comic books. Sneak peeks to the comics have now landed online via Comic Book Resources, giving a look at the cover as well as some pages of the first edition.

Written by Mark Waid ("Daredevil"), the S.H.I.E.L.D. comic book series centers on Special Agent Phil Coulson who brings together the best and the brightest, the gifted and the elite, normal people and superhumans from across the Marvel Universe on an as-needed basis to confront, combat and curtail dangers beyond the scope of any conventional peace-keeping force.

The first issue will hit the shelves on December 31. This will be the comic universe version of the characters, not a straight adaptation of the ABC TV series.

"Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." TV series itself is a spin-off to "The Avengers" movie. The show has several times featured a tie-in to Marvel's movies, including "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" and "Avengers: Age of Ultron" next.
