"The Green Hornet" kicked off San Diego Comic Con 2009 with the unraveling of the titular character's car, the Black Beauty, on Wednesday, July 22. The big reveal happening on the exhibition floor was done by leading actor Seth Rogen along with director Michel Gondry, producer Neil Moritz and co-writer Evan Goldberg.
"Sometimes you have to go a long way to get back to where you started," Rogen told MTV News about the choosing of the car. "We went to a lot of major auto manufacturers who pitched different designs and different futuristic takes on it. To us, it was important that it seem like a guy could actually build this car, that it was something you could use on the streets. We ended up falling back on the original '66 Chrysler Imperial."
On the occasion, the Adam Sandler's co-star in "Funny People" also addressed the rumor that linked Nicolas Cage to the villain role. "It's not closed yet by any means, but we've been talking to him and he seems enthusiastic and we're great fans of his obviously, so it's exciting that it could possibly happen," he confessed to Coming Soon. "He would be one of the villains so that's all I can say."
An adaptation of WXYZ's radio show created by George W. Trendle and Fran Striker, "The Green Hornet" centers on Britt Reid, a newspaper publisher by day and masked vigilante "Green Hornet" by night, and his adventures in fighting crimes. Produced by Neal H. Moritz, it is penned by Seth Rogen and his writing partner in "Knocked Up", "Superbad" and "Pineapple Express", Evan Goldberg. The movie is expected to be released in the U.S. July 9, 2010.

I have not seen any previews of this new movie so my first impression may change, but I'm disappointed with the car. I think it's a 1965, body styling is different than the 1966 and does not have as much class. Ten thumbs DOWN for headlights. The Gatling guns take points away .... they look garishly out-of-place -- too big, not stylish at all, surely Hornet could afford more interesting weapons (why not have twin .50-Caliber machine guns from 1966-era military fighter planes ??). The 1966 car had TWO rows of rockets while this only has ONE row per side. Less is NOT more when fire-power is crucial. HATE the wheels, sorry. Not impressed with changes made to rear section either. Happy to see that a Chrysler Imperial was chosen again, just wish the design changes could have been different, meaning better. Hope that watching the entire movie somehow improves my opinions, just gotta wait and see. Overall, it isn't terribly awful .... just think it could have been better. Love the paint job and the chrome + gold trim.
