The successful comedy about a pregnant teenager "" dominates the 23rd Independent Spirit Awards on Saturday, February 23 in Santa Monica, California as the low-budgeted film took the awards' three top honors. At the event, the Fox Searchlight Pictures' film has nailed the coveted Best Feature as well as Best First Screenplay for scribbler Diablo Cody.
The film's young star brought the third award for the Jason Reitman-directed film as she won Best Female Lead. In accepting the award, Page said, "This is so, so special." She then joked, "This is pretty much Diablo Cody's fault" Later, the 21-year-old actress talked about her success with the Oscar's Best Film-nominated movie to People. She said, "I'm just trying to go along with it, staying with a friend, having fun. Just trying to remove myself in a way, and remember it's about film ... These nominations are a huge honor. It's exciting."
