Artist of the Week: Mike Jones

After experiencing success with Platinum certification through his debut album "Who Is Mike Jones?", Houston-based rapper Mike Jones takes his career to the next level by making another new record. He is set to drop it under the title of "The Voice" on April 28 across America.

In "The Voice", Mike promises to bring out new sounds. He says in an interview with BallerStatus, "I've been away from the market so long, I just wanted to come back with a new look, a new image, and a new sound. Really, the sound been here, but since people say it's new, it's new."

"I called the album 'The Voice' because I wanted to let people know what the long wait was about, and what happened," the rapper continues. "I explain the four-year hiatus, and I let people know all the gossip you wanna hear about. That's why I call it The Voice. It's best to hear it out my mouth. ... I really just wanted to just let my true fans know where I been, and why I was took away from the game, and why this happened and why this happened."

Out of sixteen new songs, three of them have made their way out. "Drop & Gimme 50" was released in November 2007, "Cuddy Buddy" came out in May 2008, while "Next to You" was put forward since December 2008. As a follow up to the three tracks, another single entitled "Swagg Thru the Roof" is planned to be outed soon.

The songs in the album will feature such big stars as T.I., Lil Wayne, Plies and Trey Songz. On top of that, the tracks are worked on by A-list producers, including Mannie Fresh, Mr. Collipark, and J.R. Rotem, among others.
