Ashlee is canned from "Melrose Place" after starring in the new series for several episodes in season 1. When the show was promoting its season premiere, her character Violet was made one of the regulars. Jessica had been keen on promoting the show while Ashlee was still attached, reminding her Twitter followers to watch it on Tuesday nights.
'Melrose Place' Says Bye Bye to Violet and Augie

Ashlee Simpson and Colin Egglesfield will be let go from "Melrose Place" after a January episode, something which is announced right after the show received a five additional episodes order. In an interview with EW, exec producers Todd Slavkin and Darren Swimmer explained the exit and revealed that it had been their plan all along.
One thing that contributes in the characters cut is the "Who murdered Sydney?" storyline. The killer will be revealed in a December episode and after that, there's not much left for Simpson's Violet and Egglesfield's Augie. "Well, we always knew that this murder mystery would end in episode 12. And we always knew that character of Violet would be instrumental in that as a suspect, and Augie as well. And once that murder mystery was solved, she would go on her way. That was the original plan going into the development of the show," Slavkin explained.

To ensure fans or probably as a tactic to have her album sold out, the singer has on October 18th, 2005 signed her CD "I Am Me" at Virgin Megastore Times Square, Ne York. It's fans that make her to do so coz they mean everything for her music career. It's a kind of celebration of the new release and she wants to share her happiness with them who make her name big. That's just make sense.
Ashlee's Without Incident SNL Performance

In her return to the same scene since her last lip-synch incident, the star simply commented "I wrote this song after my last `Saturday Night Live" appearance." At the weekend "Saturday Night Live" appearance, Ashlee among others sang "Catch Me When I Fall" and "Boyfriend" before then at the end blowing a kiss to the audience while saying "Thank you so much!"

August 27, 2005 12:08:23Joe Simpson has, earlier this week, confirmed that Ashlee Simpson was in negotiations for a return to NBC's "SNL." Just now, he said that Ashlee would perform on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" this fall.
Explaining this, Simpson says "We are going to push `SNL' back because we are doing `The Oprah Winfrey Show' for one hour. (`Oprah') is going to be the first interview and the first place where Ashlee sings."

Just like her previous album "Autobiography," for this new project Ashlee also wrote with Kara Dioguardi and John Shanks. What is different in "I Am Me" is that this album is more aggressive than "Autobiography" and also shows the '80s influence of such female rockers, as Joan Jett and Terri Nunn. Speaking about that, Ashlee says "I just love '80s music. It's just so light and fun, and that was a lot of what I wanted to do on this record."

Ashley's October Saturday Night Live will become the worst nightmare for her because during the show Simpson began to sing without actually singing. While Simpson held her microphone far from her face, her drummer accidentally punched up a prerecorded vocal track for her hit, "Pieces of Me," a song which Ashlee had performed in a lip-synced, earlier in the evening. The smart Simpson then chose to cover the gaffe by performing a foot-stomping hoedown before she finally slinking off stage.
Besides, poor Ashley' song was reported like a cross between a political prisoner being tortured and a test of the Emergency Broadcast System, said a commentator on MSNBC.com, Michael Ventre.
