The 'Not Fair' songstress reveals that her grudge against the '(I'm Gonna) Love Me Again' crooner stemmed from an unsent letter, resulting in an apology and a reflection on their past friendship.

AceShowbiz - Lily Allen has finally addressed her years-long grudge against Sir Elton John, admitting that it was fueled by a misunderstanding. Allen recounted the story on her BBC podcast "Miss Me?" hosted with Miquita Oliver.

She explained that John, who used to manage her, would regularly check in with her. Allen experienced personal difficulties during this period, and she wrote a heartfelt letter to John expressing her sadness and the hole his departure had created in her life.

However, when John didn't respond, Allen became resentful, believing he had dismissed her vulnerability and sobriety struggles. It was not until years later, when she moved to America, that Allen discovered the unsent letter.

"I never sent it!" she admitted. "Elton, if you're listening - which you're probably not - I love you and I no longer harbor that resentment towards you."

The apology comes after years of colorful moments between Allen and John. In 2008, they co-hosted the GQ Men of the Year Awards, where Allen got visibly drunk and famously told John to "f**k off" when he suggested she lay off the champagne. John wittily retorted, "I could still snort you under the table."

In 2009, Allen featured a John lookalike in her music video for "Who'd Have Known", where she abducted and forced him to confess his love for her.

Despite past misunderstandings, Allen remains appreciative of John's support during her time at his management company. She recalled how he'd invite her to Christmas parties and check in on her well-being.
