In the whirlwind of superhero cinema, the 'Star Trek' actor shares insights on the surprising cancellation of 'Wonder Woman 3', his role as Steve Trevor, and the profound moments of his career.

AceShowbiz - Chris Pine, known for his role as Steve Trevor in the "Wonder Woman" franchise, recently expressed his astonishment at the cancellation of the third installment.

"I'm stunned that they said no to a billion-dollar franchise and decided to pivot elsewhere," Pine told Business Insider. "Wonder Woman is an incredible character; Patty Jenkins is such a thoughtful director."

Despite his initial skepticism about playing Trevor, Pine was ultimately drawn to the character's romantic relationship with Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman. "When have you seen a superhero film that was a love story, ultimately? That had nothing to do with blowing s**t up," he said.

While Pine is unlikely to reprise his role in a third Wonder Woman movie, he opened up about his struggle to get cast as Trevor. "I had no interest in playing the boyfriend," he revealed. "But Patty described it as 'a romance, this is 'Casablanca'.' "

In a separate interview, Pine recounted how being cast in "Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement" significantly impacted his financial situation. "I had an overdraft in my bank account," he recalled. "When I got paid $65,000, it was like my life had changed."

Despite the substantial salary, Pine admitted that his financial stability was short-lived. "I owed my parents rent money," he said. "But it's a wild feeling. I'll never forget that."

The cancellation of "Wonder Woman 3" is a disappointment for fans, but Pine's candid reflections on his career provide valuable insights into the challenges and triumphs of Hollywood.
