Emanuel is a 2013 American drama film written and directed by Francesca Gregorini and starring Jessica Chastain, Alfred Molina, Frances O'Connor, and Cherry Jones. In the film, Chastain plays Emanuel Riley, a young woman struggling to cope with the recent loss of her mother. Emanuel's life begins to spiral out of control as she becomes increasingly withdrawn and isolated, and she soon finds herself drawn to a dangerous and obsessive relationship with her mother's former lover. The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2013 and was released in the United States on February 28, 2014.
