Breakthrough (2019) is an American Christian drama film directed by Roxann Dawson and written by Grant Nieporte. The film is based on the true story of John Smith, a 14-year-old boy who fell through the ice of a frozen lake and drowned. After being submerged in the icy water for over 15 minutes, John was found unresponsive and without a pulse. The film follows the story of John's parents, Joyce and John Sr., as they refuse to give up hope and pray for a miracle. The film stars Chrissy Metz, Josh Lucas, Topher Grace, Mike Colter, and Dennis Haysbert.
