Adrift (2018) is an American biographical romantic drama film directed by Baltasar Kormákur and starring Shailene Woodley, Sam Claflin, Elizabeth Hawthorne, and Jeffrey Thomas. The film is based on the 1986 survival memoir of the same name by Tami Oldham Ashcraft, about her 41-day ordeal at sea after she and her fiancé were caught in a catastrophic hurricane. The film follows Tami (Woodley) and Richard (Claflin) as they embark on a sailing trip from Tahiti to San Diego, but their journey takes a tragic turn when they encounter a Category 4 hurricane.
