Red Sparrow is an upcoming American spy thriller film directed by Francis Lawrence and starring Jennifer Lawrence, Joel Edgerton, Matthias Schoenaerts, Charlotte Rampling, and Mary-Louise Parker. The film is based on the 2013 novel of the same name by Jason Matthews. The film follows Dominika Egorova, a young Russian ballerina who is recruited into the Sparrow School, a Russian intelligence service that trains young women to use their bodies and minds as weapons. After completing her training, Dominika is assigned to seduce Nathanial Nash, a CIA agent, in order to obtain information about his agency. However, Dominika soon finds herself torn between her loyalty to her country and her growing feelings for Nash.
