"Race" (2016) is a biographical sports drama film directed by Stephen Hopkins. The film chronicles the life of Jesse Owens, an African American track and field athlete who won four gold medals at the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin, Germany. The film stars Stephan James as Owens, Jason Sudeikis as his coach Larry Snyder, and Jeremy Irons as Avery Brundage, the president of the International Olympic Committee. The film was released in the United States on February 19, 2016, and received generally positive reviews from critics.
