The Player Episode 1.04 The Big Blind

In the House's newest game, Alex Kane (Philip Winchester) must prevent mobster Ray Capello from getting killed after he and his wife, Monica, an old friend of Ginny's, narrowly escape a hit. Alex goes looking for Ray's would-be assassin, but it turns out the hit man's just been killed by a bounty hunter - one of five who have shown up in Vegas, presumably to collect the $250K price on Ray's head. Meanwhile, Cassandra (Charity Wakefield) - who's trying and failing to maintain a relationship with her long-distance boyfriend Nick (Nick Wechsler) - eavesdrops on Alex's conversations with Mr. Johnson (Wesley Snipes). She deduces that Alex is only cooperating with the House because there's a chance Ginny's still alive.

Monica's father, Pauly Agostino (Eric Roberts), claims to have put the hit out on Ray, but Alex figures out that he's really covering for his daughter. Monica admits she hired the hit man to kill Ray after enduring years of her husband's physical abuse, but she swears she didn't hire the other bounty hunters. Alex realizes that Ray must have figured out Monica's scheme and put out a reward to any bounty hunter who killed her.

To protect Monica, Cassandra sends her and Alex to a safe house. Somehow, the bounty hunters find them, and Alex dispatches them one by one - but not before the final hunter shoots him in the abdomen. When he comes to, he experiences dreamlike memories of Ginny treating him in a field hospital, but he wakes up alone in his bed. Still, how did he get home, and who put a cup of tea next to him? Could Ginny have really been there?

In the end, Detective Brown (Damon Gupton) arrests Ray for attempted murder, thanks to an "anonymous" tip from Mr. Johnson. Mr. Johnson pulls some strings and has Ray sent directly to prison, where Pauly will undoubtedly have him killed. Alex realizes that Mr. Johnson was the one who sent the bounty hunters to the safe house, putting his and Monica's lives at risk. Desperate for information on his ex-wife and unsure of whom to trust, he asks Monica if she knows what happened to Ginny. She confides in him that she noticed Ginny was scared of something, though she doesn't know what - or who - the threat came from.
