On a beautiful hot day, doctors Gabe and Diego discuss leaving the Dominican Republic and returning home, where Diego will surely get a break from being bit by mosquitoes. Upon his arrival in Portland, Diego greets his loving wife and we see a bite on his neck is causing an odd reaction.

Another happy couple, Monroe and Rosalee, is packing for their honeymoon, despite Monroe's reservations about leaving with everything going on. A few kisses from Rosalee convince him otherwise. Love is equally in the air for Nick and Juliette, who enjoy dinner alone for the first time in months with Trubel gone. They also take advantage of an empty nest in other ways.

Diego meanwhile finds himself awake in the middle of the night and feeling unwell. He is sweating and the bite on his neck has grown to a disturbing size. He goes outside to get some fresh air and quickly collapses to the ground, transforming into a hairy, wild-eyed beast with claws. When an unsuspecting neighbor crosses Diego's path, Diego attacks him - and his dog.

He wakes up the next morning, human again and covered in blood with no memory of what happened. As he walks home, he spies Nick, Hank and Wu convening at the crime scene. The neighbor's throat was ripped open and all of the blood was drained from his body. The man who found the neighbor's body says he didn't witness the attack but he knows what killed him: El Chupacabra.

At the precinct, Nick researches the Chupacabra, whose name translates to "goat sucker." Seeing that the legend is Spanish, he calls Juliette and asks her to meet him and Hank at the trailer. Juliette heads out from the Spice Shop, where she assures Rosalee she's not pregnant but that the nausea and headaches have yet to go away. After Juliette leaves, Rosalee is getting ready to place the "Gone on Honeymoon" sign on the shop's front door when she gets a threatening phone call. A voice calls her marriage an abomination and points her toward the back door, saying, "It'll be your blood next." Outside, a dead and bleeding fox is hanging above the back door.

In the Grimm books, Nick finds an entry written in Spanish for something called a Waeldreor. Juliette reads aloud and translates, explaining that a Waeldreor is actually a Wesen infected by a disease that causes it to become deformed and visible to all. When Nick turns a page to a drawing, Juliette identifies it as the Chupacabra her grandmother used to describe. The Waeldreor are the inspiration for the Chupacabra legend.

Diego, not feeling any better at work and with no memory of what happened last night, makes his way to the parking lot, where he again transforms. Gabe finds him and gets attacked. Diego begins feeding on Gabe but a car turns a corner and shines its headlights on them. Diego leaves Gabe to attack its driver.

A fuming Monroe has Nick and Hank come over to the Spice Shop. He lets them know that if he discovers who's behind the threats before they do, he's going to kill them. Nick admits they have an idea who might be involved thanks to Trubel but that they need to keep monitoring the culprits before they can make their move. In the meantime, Nick has Juliette bring Monroe and Rosalee over to their house to keep them safe.

After fleeing the parking garage, Diego, in Chupacabra form, returns to his neighborhood, where he attempts to attack a woman. But when Diego tries to enter her home, two men with bats beat him away. Wu and his partner are canvasing the neighborhood searching for the attacker when the Chupacabra darts out in front of them. A stunned Wu jumps out of the car and gives chase but all he finds is Diego, back in human form, crouched on the ground with no memory of how he got there.

At the hospital. Nick and Hank interview Gabe, who identifies Diego as the possible Chupacabra. At Diego's home, his wife woges into a Coyotl under questioning and Nick and Hank learn Diego is also a Coyotl. When they exit Diego's home, an enraged Wu confronts them. Having come face to face with another Wesen, Wu is certain he's losing his mind and he's positive Nick and Hank know what's going on but won't fill him in. So he decides there's nothing he can do but quit. Knowing the situation has gone too far, Nick and Hank agree it's time to tell Wu the truth. He again asks about Trubel and her Grimm books and Nick begins to explain but they are interrupted by the sound of screaming coming from Diego's house.

When Nick, Hank and Wu bust in, they see Diego as the Chupacabra attacking his wife. Nick and Hank hold him down while Wu escorts the wife out of the way. As it dawns on Wu that the monster in the living room is real and that other people can see it too, he impulsively charges in, gun raised, and tries to shoot Diego. Nick stops Wu in time and explains that the Chupacabra is Wesen, it's sick and what Wu saw is real. The news is too much for Wu to handle and he drives off before Hank can catch up with him.

Elsewhere, Renard holds a secret meeting with a member of the Resistance, Hans Tavitian, who knows Renard had a hand in keeping Diana from them. When Tavitian demands to know why Renard wouldn't trust the Resistance with the child, Renard informs them there's a mole. Tavitian is not moved and assures Renard he's going to help them get the child back from Kelly Burkhardt. Little do they know Viktor is planning to do the same thing with Adalind.

Nick and Hank bring the ailing Diego, along with his wife, to the Spice Shop, where Monroe and Rosalee mix an anecdote for the Waeldreor disease. There's only enough ingredients for one dose, which should be enough, until Diego's wife faints and begins transforming herself. Nick and Hank pin her down while Rosalee weighs which Chupacabra should receive the anecdote. Diego makes the decision for her when he grabs the syringe out of Rosalee's hands and injects his wife, saving her life. He then asks Hank to kill him, knowing that he'll soon be transformed into the Chupacabra permanently. When he morphs again, Hank shoots him dead.

Wu's Wesen awakening leads him to a bar, where all the Wesen he's seen flash through his mind. He looks up at a mirror and thinks he sees an Aswang behind him, causing him to lash out and accidentally start a bar fight. With just hours to go before Monroe and Rosalee are set to leave for their honeymoon, the couple returns to their home and Nick puts a cop outside their home to keep them safe. Before turning in for the night, Monroe brings the officer a sandwich as a token of gratitude but when he taps on the car's window, he's surprised to see a man in a Wesenrein mask staring back at him. A second later, another masked man knocks Monroe out.

Having stayed home instead of assisting at the Spice Shop, Juliette is alone in her bathroom and staring in the mirror when she's hit with another blinding headache. This time, she learns exactly what's causing them as she sees herself turn into a Hexenbiest! Mama Renard never mentioned this being a possibility.

Where has the Secundum Naturae Ordinem Wesen taken Monroe? And what do they plan to do to him? Has Juliette really become Nick's natural enemy? Make sure to tune in on January 9 when Grimm returns - hopefully with answers.
